Have an S40 1.6D 2007 with 71,000 km on the clock.
Want to do the following in addition to the oil, air and pollen filter.

    1) Top up of the Eloys DPF fluid, but I believe there is a level gauge on this that requires resetting by Volvo. Does the fluid indicate when it is low and requires topping up?

    2) replace the diesel fuel filter, where is it and how often does it need to be done?

    3) The turbo line filters, again how often to clean or do these need to be replaced?

    Any help appreciated.

    1. Yes the car will tell you when the fluid needs topping up. This is not really a DIY job unless you have the correct diagnostic gear.

    2. The diesel filter is on the end of the cylinder head on the gearbox side of the engine. At 71,000km it may never have been done so worth doing. They are ok for up to 60,000km between changes but if you want to be on the safe side you could do it every 40,000.

    3. The banjo bolt where the turbo oil feed line attaches to the block has a wire gauze in it. Remove this completely if someone hasn't done so already as it just restricts the oil flow. It is quite awkward to access on a car with a dpf so only really suitable for someone who is a pretty competent DIYer. You will have to undo the downpipe/dpf from the turbo and undo the securing bolts and move it over to one side to get at the bolt.
