Upgraded Gas Installation - Should I be worried?

I recently got a replacement gas boiler and heating controls upgrade. I now have two heating zones and a third zone for the hot water. My concern is that I already had Thermostatic Valves on the rads. This means that the wall thermostat could be calling for heat, but all the valves could be closed.

The installer said not to worry, but I'm not so sure. I've also noticed about a thimbleful of water leaking from two joints in he boiler house. One of these is directly under the boiler. Any comments appreciated.

call the installer back to investigate the joint leak, they may just need a nip,, the rads in the room/area where the room thermostat is located should have the TRV heads removed.

As the system is zoned with valves, there 'should' be a bypass fitted so if the boiler was on (not for the reason your thinking, but for pump overrun etc.) the water can still circulate, this should be done using an automatic bypass valve

If it was and SEAI grant job removing the head will not suffice, it will fail an inspection. It has to be a manually operated valve, they would take the line that the head could be put back on if the TRV was left there.

I raised that very issue with the (registered) installer. He said it was not a problem!

At this stage I'll just have to 'suck it and see', if it fails the inspection, it fails. :)
