iTunes question

    My hard drive broke and had all of my music on it so I got the data recovered to my iPod and bought a new hard drive. I had iTunes set up to find the music on the HDD and play it from there.

    I moved the music folder from the iPod onto the hard drive. I went to the advanced section in the iTunes preferences and changed it to read the iTunes music folder in the music folder on my hard drive.

    It has picked up some of the music but not all of it. When I locate one file, it works. Then the prompt comes up to find them all but when I do that, iTunes freezes and I get the spinning beach ball.

    Anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?!

    iTunes is also telling me my iPod won't sync.

    Can you play one of the unfound files in another media player, like Quicktime or VLC?

    Yeah, the files are all in the hard drive. I right clicked one of the songs that iTunes says needs to be located and I opened it in Quicktime and it's fine. I can do the same thing with iTunes.

    I'm just not going through 38GBs of music, song by song or album by album! The option for the computer to find them all keeps freezing.

    The file path at the moment is /Volumes/Mary's Hard Drive/Music/iTunes Music
