Picking someone up at Busáras

Have to pick someone up at Busaras later this afternoon, it has been many years since I've ventured into the City Centre in a car, so looking for advice on best way to get in there, and back out again, if there is a pick-up/set-down area at Busaras, or if not, are there plenty of places to park nearby, and what sort of change will I need for meters/etc, or will I need to go to a shop to get a parking disc?

Will be coming in and out along Lucan Road/Chapelizod Bypass, so is it easy enough to get in, or are there any traffic restrictions I need to take into account?

Very little parking near by. Luas and Store street Garda station take up most of space around Busarus these days. Rest is Taxi and Bus Stops. Most streets near by are double yellows. On Street parking in Dublin is all ticket based. Ticket machine always close by on street and takes all coins (no notes) and gives change.

Irish Life carpark is nearest I can think of which is prob your best bet if you're unsure. Entrance on Lower Abbey Street. Turn Left off Eden Key onto Marlborough Street then Right onto Abbey.

Small bit of parking on Beresford Lane if you don't mind circling if it's full. Or further up Gardner Street, far side of Talbot Street.

As Rob, says the parking around there is minimal at best and you could end up a walk away from there. Any area outside the station is bus stop and taxi only and if you get stopped for any longer than a second, you will be moved on by irate bus/taxi drivers who you will be blocking.

Best bet for you is to park up on old Abbey Street (It's behind the Abbey Theatre) and get your friend to call you when they are at the city bus stop on Busaras and you high tail it to them there.

Thanks for the ideas, I was thinking it might be a bit difficult around there. Will likely try and get in the Irish Life carpark, my track record of picking people up on the fly never works out, so it's probably the safest option, though I might have a scout down Old Abbey Street in the first instance.

    Thanks again lads.

This is one of my favourite grumbles - there's no easily accessible pick-up points around Busaras. It's too late for you now, but it might have been an idea to get them to get a LUAS either up or down the line a stop or two to somewhere with better parking.

I'm not sure what you're supposed to do if you're picking up someone with limited mobility from there.

Talbot Street, the part of Store Street off Talbot Street, Talbot Place.

I did the cheeky, and pulled up at the corner of Busaras, there was a car already there with their hazards on, and another pulled up behind me doing the same as me, so I figured it was ok! Was there for all of 30 seconds.

Big problem was getting out. Took about an hour and a half to get from Georges Quay to Heuston with the diversions and traffic, was a nightmare of an evening.
