Rad blocked--A story with a good ending.

So 1 of the 2 rads in the kitchen/dinning area was blocked and not heating up.I had tried to unblock it,left the valve open to bleed the air out of,and still no joy.

I called in the plumber,who is RGI and had worked on my parents house and serviced the boiler there.

I was warned over the phone that it "could possibly" be a case of where a qualpex pipe behind the wall might have kinked and collapsed on itself causing a blockage,and that it could be a "cut a large hole in the slabbed wall" type job.

So basicly Im fearing the worst scenario.

Anyway,the plumber calls into my house at 10am this morning,and starts to get to work.

I made him a cuppa tea,and in that time,he had the blocked rad up and running again.

He did something at the hot press,where the solar tank is and a pipe manifold is,and then ran downstairs and opened up the valves on the rad,that was blocked.

A bit of a bang,then a loud hiss and gurgle noise and then water pi55ing out of it.

10 minutes later the rad was piping hot.

Result.:D


Now for the really good part.

I went to pay him,expecting it to be around the usual 70 or 80 euro call out charge.I handed him the money,and he hands me back 60 euro.

"Ah sure 20 euro will cover it" he says.

I said "what"??:eek:


He said "yeah,its nothing,just the cost of some diesel in the van and a breakfast roll will cover it"

I said,"yeah sure,thanks a million".

Result and an even bigger result indeed.:D:D

I've done a couple like that myself if I was in a good humour . Word of mouth is a good thing.
