Android Phone to iPhone

I am thinking of getting the iphone 4s. I use an imac and would have got an iphone sooner only for the high cost. I might have the chance of getting a good(ish) deal on the 4s.
However after all this time of ultimately wanting the iphone, there are a couple of doubts in my mind:

    1. Are there any issues with the glass front/backs breaking?
(Can anybody recommend a good case? Do you also need a screen protector?)

    2. I find google maps and turn by turn navigation to be quite good (for free apps). Are there any equivalent free apps for the iphone or do you have to fork out extra for eg tom tom, etc ?

Any thoughts from people who have switched from android to ios?

    1. They do break very easily if dropped, I find the hard plastic bumpers with the rubber around the edges are best.
see examples below, they can be picked up for around €5, just make sure you get the one for the 4S as the buttons don't line up with the 4

    2. Google maps app is installed with IOS, there is also a number of free sat navs in the app store.

That case looks well especially with the bumper around it, have you a link to where those can be got?

Google maps doesn't have turn by turn navigation like on Android though.

Well this is great to know. I hate cases. So this is exactly what I done. Ordered a bumper plus front and back screen protector.

Although I payed a lot more then €5 lol
    I got This
I have yet to receive it. Or my iPhone for that matter.

I really like the bumper case I got with my iPhone 4.
The make is called 'exspect', I paid €20 in CarPhoneWarehouse at the time,
which is a bit pricey, but it included a good screen protector as well.
It has saved my phone a couple of times already.

    Amazon have them for ~€7 now (iPhone 4 type);

I'm not sure about one for the iPhone 4S, but the make 'exspect' are pretty good.

I got a great incipio case for €49 for my iphone 4. The reason why it costs so much is because it has a rechargeable battery built in it. When your main battery is getting low your case can recharge it. I got mine in compub.

I just got my case. They said me an iPhone 4 case. Will it fit the 4s? Is there much difference.

The iPhone 4 & 4S have identical sized dimensions. All cases/accessories for the iPhone 4 will fit the 4S.

No they won't. The buttons on the side are lower

My bad I didn't know. I just remember comparing the tech specs a few weeks back and everything was identical except the 4S was a few grams heavier.

Volume buttons haven't moved at all just the silent toggle, its only a bit of extra room for the toggle switch that you need.

Well I googled this and I am ok. They sent me the cdma iphone 4 case. The cdma iPhone 4 is a slight redesign over the original iPhone 4. So the cdma version is the same as the iPhone 4s. See Pic for side by side comparison.
