Was browsing Reddit and found this.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/m1b39/iama_fella_who_bled_out_and_died_twice_in_the/

A fella (atheist) who was taking a lot of ibuprofen that developed a Lower GI ulcer that eventually ruptured. He lost 4.5 quarts of blood (average human holds 5 quarts) and was resuscitated twice. He experienced these really weird dreams and experienced the famous white light that have made so many people religious, also the out of body dream where he sees himself in the bed. His take on it was that it was simple the brain shutting down, this also explains how he couldn't understand basic concepts like time and what a toothbrush was and was meant for.

Not really surprising stuff for me, as an atheist, but nonetheless interesting stuff.

If he saw the white light and it was heaven that means that even if us atheists are wrong we're still getting in! Win/Win :)

Yeah but none of these things means any of the religions are right. Religion is a man made idea - invented by mankind.

There very well may be another layer to our existence in this universe - we just don't know yet. Believing in idea's someone pulled out of their ass to manipulate and control ancient populations is still ridiculous. Supernatural and unexplainable experiences certainly don't prove that those man made invent ideas in ancient religious books are right.

Assuming a supernatural link just because a psychological or physiological cause hasn't been proved outright is just silly, we can replicate near death experiences by giving people ketamine, is ketamine God?
