    WOW!!!!!!!

The Marble City Cyclers cavalcade departed a frosty Kilkenny @8am, and as we drove the 1.5hours cross country to Ballyhoura the morning fog lifted, blue sky appeared, and the excitement mounted (well it did in our car anyhow, the others were probably talking rugby and farting).

We hooked up with our Deenside Wheelers buddies in BH carpark, and by 10am we were off..... spinning uphill into the woods,..... bouncing over rocks,.... shimmying along boardwalks,.....dancing around tree roots,....thrilling through puddles, ..... careering immortally around banked corners,.... spitting through mud, .....launching ourselves across fire roads, ..... into cinema-dark forest and out again into blinding sun....... eating up the trails.

Our adventure was not without mishap. A nasty boardwalk deposited our Treasurer from a height into a rocky stream. His upper limb injury brought him an early shower and a hospital stay (while he was still in shock we used his defunct arm to counter-sign a few blank cheques).

The remainder of us survived a day's trail-riding, and each others company, fairly intact. I was delighted to leave BH with all of my teeth, most of my diginity, and only some potentially spectacular bruises, and a bag full of muddy kit, to mark my day.

Hat's off to the designers and maintainers of Ballyhoura mtb trails. I foresaw certain-death by single-track several times, but my bike sailed along seemlessly, despite my best efforts to break it's flow.

Big Thanks to the Good Guy (I'm sure they're all very nice!) at www.trailriders.ie mtb hire who played ambulance to our injured party.

    We'll be back.
    Get well soon M. :)

Actually it was our secretary - AFAIK, our treasurer was enjoying a round of golf (I know, don't ask me how you can "enjoy" golf - it's like enjoying watching paint dry).

Fear not, he is still a signatory on the bank account, so that effort didn't go to waste. You just need a second signature and you know I have no morals!!
