Get a bottle of Penicillin and give them 10mil each for a few days injected into the shoulder.

i would not go past tee tree oil 7 drops into a small coke bottle and spray it on 3 times a day should be right in days as it hardens the pads or any wound big time

If you use Jeyes fluid it can burn the pads off them, otherwise if both dogs have it then it must be an infection.

the filling might be the problem , have you considered putting in concrete

Did you pour jayes fluid or bleach on the filling to try and clean it by any chance?

Go to your local farm feed shop or horse shop and ask for purple spray! It's an antibiotic which they use on horses which have cracks on their hoofs!!! It's safe for dogs, it creates a hard crust on the cracks on the paws and heals from inside, plus the stuff stinks and dogs won't lick it off :D used to use it on my terriers and Lurchers when they had a bad scrap with a fox. Excellent stuff

plenty of road work will harden your dogs pads.

didnt use jayes fluid on the fillling.should i?i will put concrete under dogs this winter hopefully...today i cleaned out run completely and then gave light spread of lime to kill any disease. put in new filling mixed wit sand on top.
gave em 1ml of la penicillen each.also bathed them for few mins in salty water.used aloe vera gel.think now they have some infection.neighbour had pointer couple years ago that had same complaint...he says he thinks it was hook worm???... it could be 1 of a number of things.maybe the expensive vet if dont improve.

Lime??? sure no wonder they have sore pads.

i suspect your burning the pads off your dogs feet with whatever your trying to clean the run with.

the lime is 3 or 4 inches under the new surfacing:

I'm no expert on the chemical proprties of lime but anytime we went white washing at home when we were kids the hands used to be burnt off us.

Too much jayes fluid or bleach will also burn a dogs paws. The sooner you concrete that run the better, make sure to put a smooth surface on the concrete so that you'll be able to wash it down. Put a fall in the run and if you can a drain is a great job.

I give my run a good clean with jeyes fluid and a deck scrubber once a week, i make sure to wash it down with plenty of water too.
