Waking up the following morning with asthma doesn't sounds like exercise-induced asthma, Have you gone for an allergy test? Also visit an asthma specialist. In my local clinic, the nurse knows a lot more about asthma than my GP.

The internet isn't the best place for advice, but you need to see a doctor and have it controlled. If you have to take your reliever inhaler regularly then you need to see a doctor.

I find your last line particularly interesting "ALWAYS before a race".
I would of said, have you changed anything recently (such as heating in the house, new pillow, did you just hoover).
But the last line is the bit i find most interesting. I suffer from asthma anyway and usually have it well controlled with my inhalers and lifestyle, but before big important matches that i am involved in, i note that my health deteriorates, usually my asthma or cold/flu.
I think it is purely down to stress. I don't usually stress that easily, but obviously my body is suffering at these times.

I haven't done anything to rectify it, except trying to relax a bit more and not worry about it, but if its really affecting you, try a Sports psychologist. It might work, it might not, but if it always happens before a race, then i would say it is stress related.

    see the charter
We do not give out medical advice. Injuries may have common symptoms but are unique to the individual - just because you were able to keep training with X injury or were out for months because of Y doesn't mean that the same will apply to someone else. Bad advice given here and followed through could aggravate an injury and prevent an athlete making a full recovery in as rapid a time as possible. This restriction is Boards-wide and purposely heavy-handed. So don't feel offended if your thread about a sprained ankle (which you may deem "non-medical") gets locked.
