    Hiya,

My Application was sent in middle Oct.

Called Child Benefit Dep early on Today, and the answer is 'to wait', as they are currently processing applications received in May.

    Unbelievable!!

Thanks! Yes, our new born baby.

Baby was born in Apirl 2011 in Dublin, and birth registered in Apirl

    Application sent in August 2011.

Called CB section in Nov 2011, they said currently processing applications received in May 2011.

Wonder are there anyone sent application after May and already received Payment?!

If your baby is born in Ireland, when you register the birth of your baby the Department of Social Protection will begin a Child Benefit claim for your child.

If you are not claiming Child Benefit for another child a new claim is created by the Department and a partially completed claim form is sent to you for your signature and payment details. This form also includes information on how to claim for your new baby online. (Please note that you can only claim online if you are invited to do so by the Department.) The baby is also given a Personal Public Service (PPS) Number.

If you are claiming Child Benefit for another child, your new baby is added to your Child Benefit claim and payment begins automatically from the month after the birth. A letter confirming payment will be sent to you by the Department. The baby is also given a Personal Public Service (PPS) Number.

Did you receive the PPS number? Did you send back the form you were sent signed and with payment details?

I had my first baby in Sept 10, registered her 6/10/10, applied for Child Benefit and received it November 2 months payments at the same time.

She was born and registered in Waterford.

That seems wrong to me. We moved back to Ireland in April and submitted our child benefit application in late April. I received child benefit in August with that payment including back money for May-July also. I would have thought I was a more 'complicated' case as I had to fulfil HRC.

Sorry, my mistake. Our application sent in October 2011. and received all original Docs back 2 weeks after (roughly), with A small note printed "With Compliment". That's all.

    - Called CB section, the answer was they had all required docs; I will just need to wait (Couple of months maybe???!)

This is our First baby, and have baby's PPS No posted home 1 wk after Birth registration in April.

I believe will get all payments eventually, but just wonder what taking them soooo long?

Weather changes so often these days!!!?

Our son (first application) was born the end of September last year, we were able to complete it online and done so as soon as possible in October, we got 3 payments (Oct, Nov & Dec) paid together the first Tuesday in December. The rest as expected have been paid monthly since then.

You applied in October? It is now November. I don't think that has been so long. Why did you wait til October to apply?

I sent application to Letterkenny Office in October. (Online system would not work)
All due money paid into account at start of November.
As with all civil servants and public service, its hit and miss.

    Mod Note:
pauldry this is not the forum for what may or may not happen Social Welfare payments in the Budget, as it is all speculation.
We normally have a thread to let people know how they will be affected once the changes are announced on Budget Day, but until then try keep rumours confined to forums where it is more fitting.

I moved to Ireland last year from the UK and applied for child benefit for my 13 year old son in June. I am still waiting!
I have phoned them repeatedly but always receive the same reply "There's a big back log and you should here something in a few weeks"
I have completed all the forms and sent all required certificates etc.
Does anyone have any idea how long this might take.
