Brake pads...and acoustic wear warning...tried to find a older thread on this but have given up

Now there is usually no sound off my brakes... but somethings when braking slowly stopping at a traffic light i hear a sound...

Do i need to change the pads?? Is there something i can buy to check the thickness of the pads or whatever and if so whats the procedure in checking them??

    Thanks.

Just look at them and see how much friction material is left, you'll need to remove the wheels to check the inner ones, best thing would be to pop into a garage if you're not overly into it yourself.
