Im in the process of making a few design changes to a WordPress website. I dont have administrator level access to the backend so I can only edit the site via FTP. I was able to make css changes no bother via ftp. My question is how to I got about editing the html of the site. I need to remove and edit a few divs nothing too complex.
I found the css in htdocs/wp-content/themes/folderthemename/style.css

    Thanks

You'll need to download the relevant theme files and edit them. A theme could be as simple as an index.php file that does everything, but most will have files for handling pages, posts, front page, 404 page, as well as header, footer and sidebar files.

The diagram on this page http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy
is as good as any for trying to figure out what each theme file does.
