Is it possible to back up CCTV footage from the DVR to a laptop via a USB cable?

I can't get to the job till tonight and the homeowner wants the data transferred before then.

    Thanks

What type of DVR is it? It might be handier to transfer it to a USB key and then onto the Laptop.

It could be backed up using a crossover cable or local network
Quickest option is to just back it up on to a usb stick.
This should all be explained in manuals that the customer should have read

The guy wanted to put the footage on his comp before going to work but I couldn't make it till tonight. He didn't have a USB key so in the end he had to wait till I got there. Thanks for the replies
