I have an 1999 VWPolo and it was involved in an accident. It was repaired and now the airbag light is on. It was repaired by a friend and he told me that I would need to have the airbags reset. Can anybody tell me what is involved. What should it cost. Thanks in advance for your help.

Did the airbags deploy? You can't just reset the airbags, if the light it is on then there is a fault in the airbag system, if they were deployed then you'll need replacement airbags. Get it to someone with a diagnostic machine to tell you the codes, onl way to know what exactly is wrong.

if the car has been repaired fully and the light is on the fault code and resulting light will probably just need to be cleared using a diagnostics machine. Any decent garage will be able to diagnose and clear the code for a small fee.

If it's a bigger problem they will be able to tell you too.

If the guy who fixed it can't clear the code then he obviously doesn't know what codes are stored on it either, otherwise he would have cleared them. If the car was crashed and the light is on, it is very unlikely that further repairs are not needed. Could be any number of things.
