Seeing as it's the 25th anniversary and with the release of Skyward Sword soon I thought I'd start a thread all about The Legend of Zelda, discussion, videos etc. And to get the ball rolling I'll ask whats everybodys favourite LoZ in the series? and would you rather they released Skyward Sword on Gamecube rather then Wii?

That makes no sense.... the gamecube was discontinued in 2007.

Link to the Past is in my top 3 games of all time. It's an absolute classic, and I've probably finished it at least 10 times.

Link to the Past is also my fav.
Loved Majora's Mask but never quite finished it, almost did. Should go back to it some day.
    Only played LOZ 1&2 briefly.
    Finished OOT and TP.

I'll say Link to the Past because it was the first one I ever played and got me hooked on the series.

Loved all the games though, but especially OoT, Twilight Princess and I did really enjoy Windwaker too.

I loved 4 swords too, played it multi player with a friend on the GameCube using our Gameboy Advances, super nerdy fun!

Cannot wait for Skyward Sword, have it pre-ordered from Gamestop.ie. Very sad that the weekend it comes out I am busy socialising with real people :( :pac:

Majora's Mask is my favourite. Best worldbuilding in the whole series and the dungeons are brilliant.

Link's awakening for me. First Zelda I owned, since I had a megadrive rather than snes (no such thing as dual ownership in those days) :)

Great sense of mystery about it. Wont get to play Ocarina until xmas morning, so I may yet revise....

Wind Waker hands down. It had it's problems but the bits it got right are pure distilled Zelda.

    Wind Waker.
Originally bought it because it came with Ocarina as a free bonus, and with Ocarina being referred to as "the best game of all time" i thought well even if i don't like wind waker, i should like Ocarina...right? :)

one of my best decisions ever!

Series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that an all-new Zelda is in development for the Nintendo 3DS. Aonuma says the game will be closer to console games than to previous DS Zelda titles.

"We are already preparing a new game, a game in the series for the Nintendo 3DS, but don't think that it is a direct sequel to the Zelda titles released on DS," he told Portugese site MyGames. "We are talking about a new game, but it takes much of what has been done on previous consoles."

According to Aonuma, Nintendo is also still considering a new version of Majora's Mask for 3DS, but would rather release an all-new Zelda before another remake.

"It's something I'm asked about often and I assure you that it is something I've spoken to Miyamoto about. But recently we released The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D as a remake. We are considering the idea, but it didn't seem right to launch a remake one after another, so the next Zelda game on 3DS will be original."

    Holiday 2013 is my guess.

Ocarina of Time was special no doubt, once I got it i barely left the house till I cleared it.

Still I think Twilight Princess may have been my favourite, I had it on the GC, which from what I've recently heard was better than the Wii version.

Did anyone see the Zelda Wii U demo? I REALLY hope they make that game.
Zelda deserves HD!!! And that looked incredible!

majoras mask drove me to the brink of insanity trying to complete the miniquests in the town... starting the day over and over. And that upside down dungeon at the end, torture.

I'm really hoping skyward sword isn't like twilight princess, big and empty.

It's exactly the same, other than the Wii version is mirrored, widescreen and the controls of course!

Majoras Mask is my favourite, it was the 4th Zelda game I owned, 5th one I'd played, but the atmosphere was simply unbeatable!

The E3 demo has leaked onto the internet, not that hard to find if you know where to look....probaly can't link though!

    Downloading at the moment :)

My favourite of the series has to be OoT. Played it and the Master Quest as well, loved every second of it.

The first one I ever played of A Link to the Past, and that's a close 2nd.

I really enjoyed Twilight Princess (Epic final battle) and Wind Waker (Despite all the sailing)

Played Links awakening but didn't get into it as much as I probably could have.

    Looking forward to Skyward Sword.

I heard it was last years though. So it's probably not very current.

nah it's this years. think someone misread the date embedded in it...says august 2011. and seems to be the same build used at european game shows, the various tours, etc in the uk

Better than nothing! Pity there's not a proper demo setup for every game though!

This will prob sound a bit high-horsey, but Zelda is one game I wouldn't wanna ruin by playing leaked demo's of it etc. What's the point, you can play the full finished game very soon & enjoy it properly.

Epic.:D Now I have to subscribe to another channel. Reminds me of Xandir from Drawn Together.

Anyway it's a two way tie between Link to the Past and Links Awakening. Incredible what they packed into that tiny Game boy cart.

It's so difficult to pick just one Zelda game as my favourite, I doubt I can do it! Majora's Mask is one of my favourite games ever in terms of its atmosphere, and the amount of detail put into the characters' lives over the three days. Wind Waker is stunning from an art direction point of view; every character is quirky, distinctive and memorable, and everything's so perfectly stylised... its visuals can't really age, because they're uncompromised and exactly as intended. It's a living cartoon! Link's Awakening is amazing for telling such a full, emotional story on such a tiny platform. It doesn't hurt that the dungeons are all designed with clockwork precision, the sprite art is crisp and adorable, and it's fantastic fun.

Then there's Link to The Past; a game that's essentially without fault. Of course, there's Ocarina of Time; which perfectly expanded the series into a 3D world that felt lived in, while telling the story in an ambitious, cinematic way and incorporating music into its very gameplay by letting you actually play a virtual instrument. The Oracle games which were just as fun as Link's Awakening and linked (ho ho) together in a unique way... I could go on. Pretty much all of the games contribute something new and sometimes ground-breaking to the series, so it's no wonder everyone's so fond of them. Hooray for Zelda! Skyward Sword has a huge legacy to live up to, but if it's really the game that finally puts motion controls to use for something genuinely fun and responsive that could never be replicated by a conventional control system, I'd say there's plenty to be excited about. I can't wait!

I've played many and can never remember their full names. My absolute favorite is Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons. But only because I prefer handhelds to consoles. And they were better versions then the two on the ds. My favorite on console is Oracle of Ages. There's just something so evil about Ganandorf and I loved the cutscenes and music.

I hate Links Awakening - takes forever to buy that bloody shovel!

Why didn't you just steal it, you pick up the item and run around the guy until his back is turned and run out the door, down side is you are called Thief for the rest of the game but still that shovel is 200.
