    Hi all,

Recently went for laser eye with Optical Express at their Wellington (Ballsbridge) clinic and I now have referral vouchers giving a discount of €150 to both myself and anyone getting the surgery with OE.

If anyone is interested feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to send out a voucher to you asap!

Also, if you have any queries about the surgery, with regard to OE or the Wellington clinic in particular, post them here and I'll try to help you out. :)

    Hi mikecintralee,

I am thinking of getting laser eye surgery. Havent got anything done yet, hence petrified of this. How did it go for you? Did you come across any cases where it went wrong? Is there any specific care that you have to take now?

    Regards

    Hi kknitter,

The surgery went perfectly for me, not a problem. There's really not much to be scared of IMO, but I will admit that when you're actually under the laser it's a bit nerve wracking and fairly uncomfortable but it only goes on for about 5 mins so it's all over very quickly. Pains in the head and eyes are pretty bad for the day but ease off hugely the next day.

Did a bit of internet research into it beforehand and even went looking at one or two of the 'what went wrong' sites for laser eye which I really wouldn't recommend doing if you haven't already! Really doesn't help the decision process! :) Besides, a lot of it seems like scaremongering and the awful things they tell you can happen, as far as I understand, are fairly rare cases!

As for after care, I had to take three different eye drops several times a day for a week. You get dry eye from the surgery as well which basically means your eyes aren't producing tears so you have to take drops for that whenever you feel the need. I was told this would last for 2-3 months but for me it was only a month or so, possibly less. Even if it does last that long, it's only a minor inconvenience and a small price to pay. Other than that, I haven't had to do anything, living life as I always have, my eyes are fully functioning and as far as I can tell, in perfect condition! :)

Overall, I'd highly recommend it to anyone considering it, was even having this same discussion with someone earlier today! My eyes technically weren't that bad to begin with anyway but I still think there's a huge difference, and quality of life is just that bit better . . I'd advise you to go ahead and get a free consultation straight away as well, might help ease any worries you have and there's no pressure to take it any further or anything.

So, hope all this helped and if ya have any more questions, feel free to ask ;)

Do you still have the vouchers? I was in with them yesterday for my first consultation.

Not 100% decided on going with them (Optilase consultation next Tuesday) but theres a good chance I will as I was happy with them yesterday.

    Hi Agile,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. My vouchers expired but Optical Express have just sent out a new batch to me which they said will arrive next week! Did you decide who you are going to go with and if so do you know when you're going to get it done?

    **Hi Mike**
I have decided to go with OE in Ballsbridge and only my left needs to be altered, you worry me when you say the headache was quite bad afterwards, when were you able to return to work?
    Thank you

When I say the headache was bad, I just meant for that evening, the next day it was gone!

I went for the surgery on a Wednesday and then took the rest of the week off. I probably could have gone back in to college on the Friday but I do a lot of staring at computer screens so I didn't want to put any strain on my eyes.

Next week was grand and as I said, the headache was only for the first day!

    hi Mike,
I am interested in some vouchers how can I get in touch

Yes I also would love a voucher if anyone has one to offer :)

I'm sure people who get it done in OE are very happy with their results but please don't choose your clinic based on a voucher that covers such a tiny amount of the fee. Choose the best clinic! If you decide that's OE then fair enough.

I only heard about this voucher after I met with OE and booked in with them
