Alloys are rusting and decided to change them for steel wheel rims with hub caps.
But cannot get a used set of 16 inch wheel rims anywhere.. rang some dismantlers around Dublin (incl Traynors) and none have them; have three good types so need 16 inch wheel rims.

Any ideas where i might get a set of 16 inch wheel rims??

I am stumped that they are rusting because they shouldnt. Are they badly kerbed or something. You can get them restored as opposed to buying steel wheels that look kak.

I don't think alloys can rust! Steel wheels on the other hand can rust like a b4astard!

Pics? Might even buy them off you :)

ETA: I think what you mean is that the paint is bubbling, which looks like rust it's not... It's the actual alloy corroding. It needs to be sanded back :)

Finally managed to upload a photo - the plastic coating is peeling off in places and the alloy is corroding underneath. All four are corroding

That explains it. They are not VW wheels so thats why they are corroding. Either refurb them or get another set on donedeal...

    You sure?

OP just get them refurbed, but not polished. If they were painted that wouldn't happen again.

That's only the lacquer! There's nothing wrong with them wheels! It's called white worm. The clear coat gets damaged and water gets inside and creeps under it which causes the "white worm". I sanded my own about 3 weeks ago. All they need, is to be sanded back and polished up or resprayed the same colour.

Yep certainly not stock wheels anyway.

I know they're not Passat wheels, but I'd be nearly 99.9 percent sure they're a Volkswagen wheels. I've seen something like them before. My googling is to no avail though.

Oh rite. They might be VW wheels but I have never seen them before though..

I'm pretty sure they're VW alloys; i've lost faith in them so either i'll get rims + hub caps or another set of used alloys. None on donedeal either..

I've heard rims are v hard to find now as taxi drivers are buying them up and putting snow tyres on them to swap out if snow arrives..
