McDonalds (don't laugh)

I've been applying for a job at McDonalds online. I've applied to many ones in the Greater Dublin region but no luck so far. Does anyone on here have any experience working for McDonalds or are familiar with the online application?

Would the fact that I have a college degree dissuade them from hiring me, for fear that I will leave as soon as something better comes along?

There are several hypothetical work problems on the application form also - how to deal with demanding customers or customers trying to use out-of-date coupons for example. Could it be that I'm not giving the "right" answers to these questions that I'm not getting a call back?

Finally kids, don't study arts in college.

I've been in a similar boat before, so this is what I suggest:

    A) Mc Donalds are famous for hiring arts graduates... Its a bit of an inside joke on their part. You'd be surprised how many Mc Donalds managers have master degree's in Renaissance literature or Medieval French Poetry...

    B) What you're probably doing is not showing enough enthusiasm on the application form. You're probably suggesting that you don't really want to 'have to do this job' but will if there is no alternative. basically you have to lie and suggest that it has been your lifes ambition to work in Mc Donalds. I know its bull**** but they expect you to play this little game with them and it'd be rude if you failed to comply.

    C) Arts degree... Join the club brother. I can tell you why Geoffrey Elton was misguided in his assualt on postmodernist historiography... but a modern logistical system? Ah... To be in college again, to hide from the real world... Alas.

From what iv heard if you've worked for McDonalds it looks very good on your CV. There ment to be one of the best companys you can work for. Just because there a fast food restruant doesn't make them any less of a company

If I owned a franchise and was looking for floor staff I'd reject you too, of course you'll quit when you get a better job.

And you're applying all over a region, a manager might want someone local they can call in at short notice as rosters change

Just lie and say you're doing a masters one day a week for the next year and you will be around for the foreseeable future
