From what I hear it's exaggerated, I know people over there that have seen no flood in central Bangkok or between the international airport and there.
I don't know how rail is affected.
Check the tripadvisor forums, there will be more live info there.

if your really worried why don't you just book a flight from airport to phuket avoiding bkk altogether.

But as said above no need to worry bkk is a big place and what's been showing on the news here is totally over exaggerated.

Didn't want to start a new thread, got a few relatives flying in to bangkok on sunday and then travelling to pattaya by taxi. Anyway, I was just wondering are the roads busy in relation to the flooding (usuaully takes about 1 1/2 hours) from Bangkok to Pattaya. Also how bad is the flooding in bangkok as sometimes the news can exagerate things. Any replies would be grateful.

yes it is a lot busier as thousands of bangkokonians are fleeing to pattaya, my mate said it can get seriously congested from si racha to pattaya so it will take a lot longer to get there unless it's by night.

Have a look here some good info.
