Question about declaring convictions when looking for a quote

I had a drink driving conviction 12 years ago. Just wondering if I have to declare it when looking for a car insurance quote seeing as it's over 10 years ago? Some companies still won't quote me.

They usually quote a period during the quote process don't they? "Have you a whatever within the last 5 years" sort of thing?

Depends whose writing it. Sometimes the word "ever" is used which is a bit cruel if you ask me.
