Yet Another Referee Story (With violence this time!)

In this amazing video (see the link) from a Chilean second division match, the referee deems this particular offence as worthy of something more than the usual red card.

As a result, after consulting with his linesman, the official issues a red card to the offending player - then gives him a smack in the face for good measure when he starts to complain.

What follows is hilarious and horrific in equal measure as the players are initially stunned.

What do you do when the ref hits your team-mate in the chops? The ordinary reaction to an opponent doing so is to retaliate - but the referee?

The result is that, after considering their options, the team-mates of the felled player (who, let's be honest, made a bit of a meal of what was essentially a clip round the ear) surround the official before starting to get violent.

A series of kicks and punches ensue as the ref is forced to make a quick getaway in true officialdom fashion - running backwards.

We just have to hope he got away safely - or that one of his assistants used to be a bouncer. The odds of 3 vs 10 aren't that great

So now we have drunk refs, violent refs and useless refs!

edit: oh by the way stick with it for the flying kick near the end!

I didnt expect that ref to out-run a whole team of footballers seeing as he looked like he was carrying some timber(Thanks Mark Lawrenson for that one).

    Fair play to him!

Number 3 is such a such a yellow little scamp, running in, throwing a dig, running away again.

your man went down like he was shot by a sniper
