Think the floods caused damage and currently there are NO DARTS running from Grand Canal to Sydney Parade and a bus service is being used to connect passengers between the 2

    yep

in fairness its not too far a walk from Grand Canal Dock or Sydney Parade but you need to add in an extra 10 mins or so

Its only a 20 minute walk from town anyway.

I'm going to Sandymount estate before the game? What's the best POA going from busáras to Sandymount?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,234 ✭✭✭totallegend

Just FYI, Grand Canal station is probably closer for people in the North end of the ground.

Thomond, best plan to go from Busaras to Sandymount is probably the Dart from Connolly (beside Busaras) to Grand Canal and a short walk on to Sandymount. Not sure where 'Sandymount estate' is, unless you mean Sandyford?

Well the houses in Sandymount, a stone's throw from the stadium.

Oh right, then DART from Connolly to Grand Canal station is your best option. If you've time to kill and it's not lashing rain/freezing cold, you'd be talking about a 45-minute walk from Busaras.

    DART Shuttle Service
    Thursday, November 03, 2011

DART disruption; line closed from Grand Canal Dock to Sydney Parade due to flood repair work. The works to repair this damage, and resulting disruption, will continue for up to a fortnight (up to Friday 11th November current estimate).

    Services affected are:

There will be no DART service between Grand Canal Dock and Sydney Parade.

Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for customers affected, on all southside routes to/from areas on the DART line south of Grand Canal Dock.

    Sandymount Route 2, Route 3, Route 18

One thing I'd love to know is if Grand Canal Dock station is open after the game. Normally for crowd control reasons its closed after any major game in the Aviva, but given that Lansdowne Road is currently closed, that many that normally head to that station will be heading to Sidney Parade instead (for stations south of Sidney Parade), and the fact that Grand Canal Dock is temporarily a terminal station means both platforms can be used for northbound services, will they keep the station open?

Or get Luas to the O2/Point and walk across East Link bridge

Hopefully. the problem with GCD after matches is that northbound trains from Lansdowne Road will be already full, thereby creating crown control problems at GCD.

You'd do that in 30 mins at a decent pace.

There are no northbound trains from Lansdowne road. That was the issue in the first place.

They apply. That section of rail line is closed until next week at the earliest.

You have misunderstood; they are saying that the usual situation of Grand Canal station being closed after games will not apply tonight, since Lansdowne station is closed.

    Before game
    Northbound passengers: use Sydney Parade
Southbound passengers: use Grand Canal Dock, alternatively use the Luas Red Line and cross the Eastlink Bridge from The Point.

    After game
    Southbound passengers: use Sydney Parade
Northbound passengers: use Grand Canal Dock, alternatively cross the Eastlink Bridge and use the Luas Red Line.
