CIMA exam venue change

    Hi,

I had applied to do a CIMA exam while I was traveling and doing a bit of work in a NGO teaching and helping the staff produce and maintain more transparent records in South East Asia. I had booked the venue in question specifically because it was a regular venue and didnt demand any further fees to be paid to the centre like the special venues. A few days ago I got an e-mail saying that the venue has changed which was is no problem as its still in the same locality but then I get an e-mail from the new venue asking for 2`500`000 dong to be paid in cash 3 days before the exam date.
Rather pissed off at this I checked back up on the venue which is still stated as a regular venue and checked the online guide which says

"At Special centres, as well as the standard exam fees, there will be an extra fee that you must pay direct to the centre. Please be aware that, in some countries, the special fee charged may be considerably higher than the CIMA exam fee.
Please note: exam venue address details are correct at the time of entry. In the unlikely event of a venue change, details will be shown on your admission advice and/or emailed directly to your email address."

Its says nothing about a change from a regular to special venue.

Ive sent them a not so happy about this e-mail, I waiting for their reply.

I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with them, as Im rather pissed off about the whole thing after just forking out on a good bit for exemptions and the exam in question and on top of this I just got an e-mail asking for 2012 subscription fee which has doubled I think in price. I had only signed up in August so I reckoned I had a free subscription for the year not 4 months.

Does anyone know if they give refunds on exemption fees as I`m thinking on the lines of ditching it instead of paying any more on stubborn principle.

Sorry for the rant I feel better now :p

Fees were cancelled :D, I can attempt to spend the 2.5 million dong on 6000 dong a glass for the local beer..

417 glasses of beer v doing exams

It would have been a difficult decision.

For the record I did one exam at a special exam center (the British council in Milan) but the cost was an extra €50 or so I think.

I think its best to factor in beer purchasing power parity when making financial decisions in the region. It helps put things into perspective.
