Too early for winter tyres ?

Have received my winters this week and the tyres on the car are mostly spun out. Being quite mild this week is it too early to put them on?
Doing low enough milage & speeds would it matter much?

By 'spun out', do you mean worn out? If so, i'd fit the winters now. Mine are still in the garage for now, but my summers have lots of meat on them. Winter tyres will have no problems with current conditions.

If it is a choice between worn out summers and winters then put the winters on. I was in the same dilemma last week and the winters have coped with the wet conditions much better than the old tyres.

I wouldn't be waiting for the ice and frost to return before changing something as critical as tyres.

While winter tyres work at their optimal temperature of +7ish degrees... they'll still perform quite well in our current conditions (of up to 11ish?).

Especially when comparing them with tyres that are near the end of their lifespan.

Tarmac temp and Air temp are normally different. I'd fit them.

    Yeah, exactly!
The road temps are going to be even a little lower than the air temps!

Got a local mobile tyre lad to come out and fit my tyres..
€10 a corner fitted and balanced, not too bad...
He couldn't beleive the price of the tyres... He quoted me €95 for tyres I had delivered for €56 plus his €10, so that's a saving of €30 a corner..

Handy to have it done at the house and I wanted to get on his books as a customer in case myself or the missus need him in emergency in the future..

    Bring on the snow :p

A guy came out to your house and fitted and balanced tires for 10EUR a tire :eek::eek:

Fitted mine last weekend. I figure if I wake up one morning and its frosty and snowy and I'm late for work then I've left it too late to change tires. I decided the clock changing over was time enough for them to go on.
