    Hey Folks ,

New to the forum , just starting out with weights and cardio training , planning on training 4-5 nights a week and one big session at the weekends. I am 32 , 6ft 4 and 225 pounds. Looking to drop the excess weight , get fit and put on some muscle , not a huge amount , . Not really aware of any sites , tips that you could help out with to get me started. Also cutting out junk food at the moment , taking vitmain supplements and planning on taking whey protein power while training. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    Hi El Jefe,

You should aim to do three to four workouts a week e.g. monday, wed, fri and maybe saturday that may be more sustainable in the long run. Leverage the staff at the gym you are attending to get a basic programme to start and advice on proper technique on exercises. Try doing a circuit with the weight machines available in the gym do 4 sets of 5 reps after a warm up on each machine. For cardio try doing either 15 mins on one machine e.g. the bike or do 5 min blocks on e.g. treadmill > cross-trainer > bike.

When you have done a few weeks with the weights machines you can look into free weights and core exercises on sites such as youtube. You could also look at High intensity interval training using programmes available on the cardio machines in the gym when you have a base fitness in place.

    Regards,

    Trevor
