Warmflow Boiler not igniting

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me - I have a Warmflow 70/90(?) I think - it has not been on since last April and is refusing to ignite. I have a Tigerloop (the oil has just been refilled).

It starts when I press the red button (reset?) and tries to ignite but fails. I have been trying for about 3/4 of an hour. I know it can take a while when it has been off for a long time but I am scared that I might be flooding it or something by continually pressing the reset button. Is this even possible?

It makes a kind of whooshing noise and sounds like it is half way to firing but fails at the final hurdle.

Any suggestions would be welcome. (bear in mind that I am a girl:p so need instructions along the lines of "can you see the red bit/blue bit?)

    Thanks :)

It sounds like there is no oil getting to the burner.

    The basics to cover are
1)To ensure the lever on the pipe leaving the oil tank to the boiler is open-sounds basic but check it nonetheless!

    2) Loosen the bleed valve on the burner until its a quarter turn from coming off and then press the red button, once oil starts to pour out through the valve close it. This would normally be done if you ran out of oil when last used. If you have the Riello 2.2 burner which I think comes with these boilers then you need to remove the red cover (just loosen the two screws holding it in place) and the bleed valve is on the left. Check with your manual for the exact location.

Hopefully it's just something simple like this.

    Thank you! :)

I can see the oil bubbling up in the tigerloop - does this mean that the fuel is getting through?

I will try taking off the front of the red box when the flipping rain stops again for a minute!

yes, that means oil is running through the pump, ell us exactly whats happening (ie, time how long it runs, does it fire for a few seconds then stop, etc, the devil is in the detail)

NEVER work on an outdoor oil boiler in the rain, 240v can kill!

Thanks guys, I couldn't get it to start and wasn't sure which bit I should bleed it from (I did search for pictures but it wasn't obvious to me) So I did the sensible thing and called the plumber - the had it fixed in about two mintues (it did need bleeding) and better still he showed me how to do it!

Thanks a millon for your help.

You need to ask him why?

If you have a tigerloop that is correctly connected you should not need to bleed the burner, it should do this through the return to the tigerloop!

Ask him to check if the by-pass screw has been fitted to the burner pump, IMHO it hasn't been and the tigerloop is not doing it's job

I'm not sure - I called him because I wasn't confident enough to do it myself. The tigerloop has never failed before and its been there for years. It only took a second of bleeding to get it through - I assumed it was because there had been no oil for six months. It is working fine now, so I will wait and see what happens with it.

Thanks a million again for your help.

Having same problem, boiler is tryin but won't ignite, I've a tigerloop, it's bubbling, I've tried the bleed valve too. been at it for ages but nothing happening. the boiler is bout 20+feet from the tank, could this mean there's alot of air in the line?
it was the usual, ran out end of last winter, not used til now.....

Hi, to bleed it, do you have to open the valve...hit the reset button and wait till you hear/see something before you close it??..

oh...and is the valve the bit on the actual burner or is it on the pipe?

Probably needs a good service, possibly water has got in the burner and jet. Why or how did it fill with water? Is there no rain cap on it? Surely the inside will be rusted like mad. U sure there's not a small leak in the chamber?
