VRT putting down wrong year

I went to VRT my car this morning and I kind of anticipated a problem with the year of first registration. It's actually not that straightforward to find this out for Aus registered cars. NCTS were insisting that they put down year of manufacture, but I asked that they take my vehicle history check from QLD government as proof of first registration. The car is an 06 Audi A4 1.8T with 77,000kms on it. They want to register it as an 05, is there anything I can do?

Surely the ownership papers have the first registration date?

The only ownership doc you get is the registration certificate. (Which only show year of manufacture).

It should go down as the year it was first registered they are talking rubbish.

Ask them why are cars registered on the 1 jan not registered the previous year so.
