Paying with laser if insufficient funds?

Is this possible? Today is pay day but due to the bank holiday, it's been put back a day til tomorrow. On the way to work this morning I stopped and bought €30 petrol with my laser, as I assumed I had been paid. So can I buy lunch etc today using laser? Don't wanna attempt it if my laser card is rejected at the shop
