toying around with the idea of changing my car
i had an Boxster years a few years ago and i loved it
sold it for an M3 which i wasnt mad on but was a brilliant car in its own right
(if you wanted to be killed /loose license etc) really good but really raw

i have narrowed the list to Boxster S (987)
    2003 911 (996) and that was grand untill i saw a Cayman S today

they look a bit all over the place design wise .. but i liked it

any one have any insights about them ? good bad or indifferent ?

My way of thinking is this: if you will ever need more 2 seats, there's only 1 car on that list. .
If, on the other hand, you don't, it's down to whether you want a soft top or not. . .which case there's only one car on that list. . . .are you seeing a pattern here? . . :-P

I'd go for the newest car I could afford, and the Cayman does it for me. . .

There's a fab 996 for sale by a member of Porsche Club Ireland atmo. . . You should have a gander there too. . .

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

maybe a better man than me could spot the difference but the variation in design between all the models from the boxster to the turbo have negligable difference.

I think a cayman S priced at low 20 thousands for an 06 model is the bargain of the year.

Mate of mine has had one for about 8 months now, have only driven it a handful of times so not sure what its like to live with day to day but if you don't need 4 doors/seats it's a brilliant drivers car, great handling, very nimble and very quick. Like yourself I'm not crazy about how it looks, little bit awkward and weak compared to a 911 IMO but not a bad looking car in any way.

Test drive a few, let us know how you get on.
