    Hi guys,
Turned on the oil heating for the first time since early in the year. Bled it, and had her working fine for just short of an hour.
So door off and tried to get it to start and no joy.
Opened the thermostat thing and there is power coming to the thermostat box, but not out of it down to the pump/burner (whatever it is).
Anyone any ideas? Is it a case of replacing the thermostat, or will i need a pro out?? If so any idea of costs? What caused it to happen?
    Any help appreciated!!!!
    Thanks folks.

Should be a hi-limit reset button next to the thermostat, has that tripped ??

The reset button on the thermostat box? Yea pressed that, still no joy:confused:. Would that mean its a problem in the thermostat box??
When you open the thermostat box, there is two little bronze boxes. There is power going to one, but not coming out of the one with the reset button, if thats any clearer??

Allow it to cool before pushing the reset.

The power should go through both stats, if you turn the power off and check for continuity across the stats that will tell you if theyre knackered.

The burner hasnt been working since yesterday. Only went at it this evening when i found my phase tester so it was plenty cool.
Not sure i understand about checking for continuity Billy? What way will i do that?
    Thanks Btw

Using an ohmmeter, The power should come in onto one stat then out and link to the other and out before going to the burner, if either have gone you will need to replace the dual stat complete, you can bypass the stat for testing but if your a DIYer i suggest you get a pro.

try pressing it in again firmly
sometimes using the nib of a pencil
do not by-pass this essential safety device

Check that you have not turned the regulating stat down below the ambient temp. Its the adjustable stat beside the high limit stat.
