I recently had a tip in my car - someone drove into back. Bottom line is new rear bumper required. I bought the bumper from VW directly. Came the next morning. VW Airside dont actually have an onsite paint facility so they basically just farm that out to a 3rd party so wasnt going to pay them for the job as they would have to put a mark up on the price to make it worth their while. I did some research and a crowd called AJK Motors located in Rush were recommended by a guy i work with who has dealt with them in the past. They did a great job. No bulls**t at all - gave a price for the job and discounted for cash payment also. Bumper was sprayed and fitted and impossible to tell the difference in colors. Would recommend them. Dont have the number handy but google should provide an answer.
The guy who ran into me wasnt going thru the insurance company as it wasnt worth it so i was keeping the total price as low as possible for him. Unfortunately for my 09 Jetta, the rear bumper is divided into 2 sections and both were impacted therefore both parts required. Bumper cost alone was 515. Spraying and fitting was for 340 and considering its a big enough bumper, was a good price. There was minor damage behind the bumper and they actually repaired and re-sealed it for no extra cost.
Hope you get sorted out as soon as possible.

I have a focus and needed a full rear bumper respray, I went around to quite a few places, the majority of them were in the 500-900 region for a clean up and full bumper respray, one place tried to say i need a new bumper too as it was fibreglass (obv its not!), make sure you get a few quotes to find a medium. In the end I was told about this place in cookstown ind estate, tallaght and I got the rear bumper done for 300 and it was a brilliant job, you would never think it was touched andd im delighted with the work. It blends prefect with the rest of the body too.

Edit: I just ready you have a crack in it too, I had two in mine and around 8'' and 4'' long, you could see through the bumper, they were repaired, and sprayed, and its literally like a hair line in the paint, I no its not perfect but its saving a few hundred of a bumper!

I would guess will be a cash payment from person who hit you. Anything below 1000 isnt worth claiming for considering policy will then be loaded etc.
    Best of luck with it.

A new bumper from Somora can be bought for less than a hundred quid I'd say.

Add another two hundred or so for paint and labour and thats it. Most bodyshops will quote for blending the rear quarters in too, but for a car of that age it's not really worth it. A bottle of T-Cut will do the same job.

Hi Breakdown of todays quote is as follows:
    Rear Bumper €221.81
    Paint and Materials €100
    Labour €250
Car Hire for 1 day €25
    Waste charge €10
    VAT €77
    €649 in total.

the bumper price seems expensive, maybe you could get one from a salvage yard?
I guess though if your getting it through insurance or whatever, might aswell get a new one once they are willing to pay it
the rest seems reasonable... The labour is the pricy part, one quote I got was 60 per hour for labour and they wanted it for a day and a half! :/

As I said, price up a bumper with Somora parts. They're fairly cheap.

Somoras are cheap for a reason. There's always fitting issues. Never once have I got a wing from Somora which didn't need a mountain of fettling - and if I charged for the time invovled in modifying the Somora part, it'd be the same as just buying an OEM. Put a Somora bumper on both an Almera and an A4 at the request of the owners trying to save money once, and they both broke my heart.

I've never had a problem with their parts, and I've used them and seen them used quite alot.

Have you fitted/painted them yourself, or are you contracting them out?

Fitted some parts, contracted others out.

To be fair, I wouldnt be too worried about getting the job done perfectly on a car worth well under three grand.

If it was a car worth a few bob I'd suggest OEM parts.

Fair enough - but I remember one wing on a 206 I used Somora for, and it literally broke my heart, I'd to bend bits, hammer other bits to pinch closed the panel haps, sand off rough edges and re-prime ... but as you said, and rightly so, horses for courses!

To be honest I dont want to go sourcing the parts for it myself prefer let the panel beater do it as Im not paying for it myself thankfully.

That's exactly what i was charged for a 2008 bumper and spray about 2 years ago at a main ford dealer.
