    Im interested to know what therapy/councelling/ professional would be suggested for a person with a moderate intellectual disability who steals money and cigarettes both impulsively and premeditively?

    At the moment she sees a clinical psychologist once a week for the last six years. He/she suggests removing the temptation from her life as much as possible. This has not been successful as she continues to steal on average two to three times a month.

    What other options are out there?

    For the person (and problem) you describe counselling or psychotherapy will be of no use whatsoever IMO. Get a good functional analysis done; focus on the behaviours. Don't land a person with Mod ID into counselling/psychotherapy. Please.
