    solar panels (though they do degrade)

    I had read, but can't pin it down at the moment, that there was so much debris up there that it may at some stage in the future prevent further space exploration. I was saddened by this as I was very excited as a child by all the rockets taking off in the late 60's and early 70's. Mars here we come!
