Honeymoon: any suggestions?

Not sure if this is better in the Travel forum. Anyway, feel free to move it if it is.

We don't know where to start with this. We are thinking of some place beyond Europe, as we can travel anywhere in Europe pretty easily nowadays and will do so in the future often. Outside of Europe? 3 weeks to 1 month is the preferred time scale and it will be from mid-June next year. It must be near water, preferably in a place where we can listen to the sea from our opened balcony door (ahem for specifics! :))

Also, has anybody experience of a creative, yet reliable and competitively priced company that organises honeymoons?

    Thanks.

We recently used Dee Evans from www.travelcounsellors.ie to organise our honeymoon. She put a huge amount of time and effort into perfecting the package for us and I would highly recommend her.

Can't help you with a destination I'm afraid. We're going to America.

Maldives is supposed to be great for honeymoons. You can even get a private segment of beach...

horses for courses. The maldives would be very quiet, no change of scenery available. Some love it.

Achill island, just off the west of Ireland, but it's the nearest to America without actually going there. Sound of water from your balcony is guaranteed and if you mix with the people, i'll guarantee you will cry the day you have to leave. The added bonus is that you'll always be welcome back. Come on, if you don't go, you'll never know. We'll look after you.

We have booked our honeymoon with Mary Foyle, Travel Councillor. We are going for a week to Thailand, villa on the beach. And two weeks traveling around Japan. We are going in mid July. I've used Mary before when we booked a Caribbean Cruise and I'd highly recommend her. I also found Trailfinders good and it's worth getting some brochures from them to give you ideas. Ultimately it's such a personal decision- we wanted to go somewhere for relaxation and somewhere cultural that we probably won't get to again in a hurry.
