Is there much difference between the different versions?
    e.g. i7-720QM Quad Core 1.60GHz vs i7-2630QM
    Which would be the newest?

    And what is turbo boost?

The newest is the 2630QM, any Intel i series that are of the form 2xxx are this generation, or codename Sandybridge. The 2 stands for second. Those with only three digits are the first generation.

When trying to figure out which processors are better I use this site,
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

You can't take benchmarks as an absolute ranking of how good a processor is, or how it compares to others, but it's a start. Also in general Sandybridge will be the best, and those that have a Q in the name stand for Quad core, which will usually be better than those without a Q.

I would go for the Sandybridge if I was you :)
    Hope this helps
