Using Laser/Maestro card on amazon?

    as above im having trouble with adding the card to my account.


    have a BOI laser card with Maestro/Cirrus on it.
    keeps asking for a card number..
    i entered the number above where it said card number..its an 8 digit number and it keeps coming up card number not correct. them theres the 19 digit number...and 7 digit number on the back....

    please help i have never used laser online.....im useless at this stuff :(

    Laser won't work on Amazon, even though it has a Maestro logo. :( It usually only works on Irish websites (and then they'll want the longer number, not the 8-digit one). The Maestro logo is there to allow you to use it in shops when you're abroad. Online is a different story though.

    ah bugger....no wonder it wasnt working!

    Since we're here, is there any way to request a non-laser debit card from either AIB or BOI, at this moment in time?

    i used amazon.uk earlier this week and successfully placed 2 orders with my BOI laser card
    I added card with 19 digits on front
    1 order is dispatched other one is "not yet dispatched"
    i have not received previously packages from amazon uk with this card but I see no problem with it now...

    Ulster do a Visa Debit card; which in theory works everywhere that visa does (only come accross 1 or 2 exceptions in a year).
    I have heard rumours for ages now that BOI and AIB were going to move to, or at least offer the same, but have never received any offer of one yet.

    Bank of Ireland have said they will start introducing Visa Debit this year. Still no sign of them though.

    Yeah I actually order stuff from amazon last week with my BOI laser card even though I know I've tried it before an it failed. Worked fine :) but the OH tried with her AIB one yesterday and had no joy.

    Meh, gonna be a big hole in my bank account now that I can finally use amazon :)
