    Hi all,

I need to see a sports dietician as i was recently told i have diabetes and want to match my diet for training for a half iron man next year with weight loss and managing my diabetes. I seen a hse dietician in a group setting but it was of no use to me.

I live in Laois but am in Dublin daily so i can go anywhere in between.

Barry Murray might be worth considering. http://www.optimumnutrition4sport.com/

He's a triathlete/ultra runner himself, he's based in the UK but visits Ireland a lot and has an online service.

+1 on Barry. He's excellent. He seems to be in Dublin a lot but he travels all over the country too.

I've been to a couple of his talks and they are excellent.

    Hey Elvis,

Do you have type one or two diabetes?

If its type one you need to see dietician who works in a diabetes clinic. The dieticians in St. Columcilles are pretty good but high level sport and type one diabetes is a very new area. You are going to have to try and work out what works for you.

There is a diabetes chat thread in long term illness forum which has some useful information in it.

If you speak to your team in the hospital they should also be able to give you more advice on how to manage your sugars etc.

Oh nearly forgot this website has some great info! http://www.runsweet.com/

    Hi Elvis

If I was you, I'd trust a dietitican anyday....looking at the INDI website there are loads of dietiticans specialising in sports.
