Amplifying bowed instruments

Hi all. I'm having an Arpeggione built! This amounts to something between a guitar and a Cello and I'm looking for advice on the best way to amplify bowed instruments.

Are there cellists and/or Violinists here who work in a band context? What type of pickups and microphones work best for you? How are they with pizzicato as well as bowed sounds? How are they at picking up the natural sound of the instrument?

    Thanks all!

Ive been playing cello in bands for a few years now, and I have found Fishman pickups to be the best. I have the c100. Super easy to attach and remove, great sound.
At gigs I usually plug right into the DI, and sometimes the sound guy will have no idea how to mix for cello. Make sure the gain is up because it can come out really brassy. A preeamp is recommended but I haven't had the money to get one yet. So far haven't had too much of a problem without it.

Surprisingly, no. You would think it would be a problem, but I haven't had any.
