Call Divert on ISDN FRA line

    Hi all,

I have set up call forwarding from a PBX connected to an ISDN FRA to a VoIP provider.

I had to do this as Vodafone advised that they cannot set up a divert at the local exchange. Unfortunately this has caused latency and call quality issues due to the method of forwarding.

Is there an alternative way of setting up a forward? Even if I could bypass the old PBX using something like *21* may help

I dont understand why Vodafone cant perform a call divert at the local exchange?

    Thanks

Not sure why Vodafone cannot do this. The divert can only be done to one telephone number. So all numbers in the number range will be diverted to 1 number, So if you use incoming faxes etc then they will all point to the 1 number.

You could just have the number range ported/migrated to whoever the VOIP provider is and that will eliminate any need for a divert.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the number porting will take at least 2 weeks as it is an ISDN FRA. If it was ISDN BRI it would only take a few days.

I think Vodafone have misunderstood me anyway. Its hard to get to talk to someone who actually knows anything about ISDN in there! They said their product specialist would call me back in 5 minutes and that was yesterday!!

I asked for a divert on a particular number and it is a DDI of the main ISDN number so they said no.

If I ask for a divert on the main number of the ISDN group hopefully they will obilge

Yes you cannot divert an individual DDI you will need to get the main number of the Pri and get that diverted which will look after all the other numbers also. This usually only takes a couple of minutes to have done.
Eircom used to take up to 4 or 5 hours but in the last while its usually done by the time you hang up from them.
You just need Voda to make the call as the lines are with them and Eircom wont deal with you as you are not there customer.

    Best of Luck. ;)
