I watched this film Chonmage Purin over the weekend, they've called it A Boy and His Samurai in english. It's basically about a samurai who shows up in the present day and is befriended by a single mother and her son. It's very much a family comedy, and a very good one at that.

If this was made in the west I'm sure their would have been a plotline involving the samurai teaching the boy to overcome bullies at school or the family owing money to the Yakuza or something(and of course part of me wanted to see the Samurai kicking modern gangster ass) but that is not the direction this film takes at all. If anyones familiar with what the japanese name actually means then you might be able to guess where this goes :)
