Why is my terrestrial signal so goddamn sensitive

    Hi

Im having major problem trying to get a decent aerial signal sent through my house, here is my setup. The aerial first comes into a modulator (modulating Ariva 120 box) and then into Ariva Box itself (terrestrial signal and quality both around 80%).

After that everything goes to pot. the next Ariva box has about 50-60% signal quality and signal but Saorview is totally unwatchable.

After redoing nearly all my connectors I've narrowed down that any modulation sent on the cable sends the terrestrial signal to dirt. Both my modulator below or 8 way distrib/loftbox seem to send Sky+ signal fine but terrestrial signal is dust.

    Anybody any ideas?

Why are you using a modulator after the aerial and before the Ariva?

How many Ariva receivers are you using and are you looping through/splitting each receiver to the next?

Best to use a distribution amp (after the aerial) to split and distribute the aerial feed to each receiver independently.

Sorry you are right, I have the modulator after the first Ariva.

I have two Arivas and yes the are being looped through. In fact since the aerial is the first link in the chain, it ends up being looped through everything.

Unfortunately I cant really because of cabling issues.

Why are you using a modulator if you are feeding into a second Ariva box? Why not just use a two way splitter at the first box and put a modulator after the second box?

Also what kinda of cable are you using?

The first Ariva box is in the bedroom and I want to be able to control it from there.

Ive always found the 2 way splitters to really destroy my signal. Are you suggesting something like this?

Ok Im going to run direct leads from my terrestrial aerial to my Arivas.

Can anybody recommend a decent 4 way splitter/amplifier?

    Thanks.

    This ???

See the 4-way versions from these; http://www.antiference.co.uk/distribution-amplifiers-internal
    http://www.blake-uk.com/proamp.aspx
    http://www.triax.co.uk/upload/wolseyproduct_rangejune10.pdf

There are others available of course.

The Antiference selection includes masthead types with seperate power supply which can be useful if you don't have a power socket near where you want to locate the amplifier. The other makers' mastheads will also serve this purpose.
