Has anyone picked this up yet? Its part of the Dark heresy series from FFG for those who don't know. Had a quick look, I like the idea of playing as the bad guy, love the fluff, artwork etc & I imagine it plays similar to DH/RT/DW.

    Any thoughts?

Picked it up, just got a game started online, so slow playing. My pen and paper group wouldn't be interested in it, so online is my only option.

Core mechanics are very similar to the rest of FFGs 40k line, so if you know those it should be quick enough to get up to speed on. I haven't had it that long, nor had that much time to read through it all yet, so can't comment on a whole lot.

I picked it up recently, and I'm about to try a short campaign with some friends. Nice change of perspective that makes the Traitor Legions and Chaos followers less outright evil than the Imperium would have you believe. It's similar enough to Dark Heresy/Deathwatch, but you have to keep a closer watch on what characteristics/skills/talents you buy with XP, as those choices become important for determining which of the Dark Gods you align with.

All you really need to know is that there are rules for Noise Marine sonic weapons. I've wanted those since long before Dark Heresy apeared.

Any chance you'd let us know how your campaign goes?

Sure. It'll only be 3-4 sessions long, but should be fine to get a feel for the setting.

So what's mechanic for balancing the fact that someone is going to use a chaos space marine?

Marines are good at what they do, but they tend to be combat focused. The 'normal humans' are more versitile, and probably won't stick out quite as much as the 8 foot tall power armoured killing machine :)

Yup. Chaos marines would never be able to blend in on an even slightly Imperial world. Well, maybe a really really REALLY clever Alpha Legion marine, but it's just easier to have bog-standard human characters do that sort of thing.

Received my copy in the post on Friday, i went for the collectors edition (birthday present). Haven't had a chance to sit down & properly peruse it but on the surface it's an impressive piece of work & I cannot wait to delve deeper. Now to find a group to play it...
