Chemical weapons would not surprise me really. Maybe jpost and agi.it mistranslated chemical weapons to nuclear weapons.

Sorry, we need a credible Zionist post before this can be confirmed.

If this is true, which I doubt, I would hope that the nukes are secured before the extremist Islamic elements within Libya get their hands on them.

Libya’s prime minister confirms presence of chemical weapons says inspectors due this week

By Associated Press, Published: October 30

TRIPOLI, Libya — Libya’s interim prime minister on Sunday confirmed the presence of chemical weapons in Libya and said foreign inspectors would arrive later this week to deal with the issue.
Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril said Libya has no interest in keeping such weapon

“We would like to assure you that the new Libya will be a peaceful Libya and that it is in our interest to have no weapons in Libya,” he told reporters.
Last week, Ian Martin, the top U.N. envoy to Libya, told the U.N. Security Council that undeclared chemical weapons sites have been located in Libya.
At the time, he also expressed concern over command and control of chemical and nuclear material sites.
Jibril, who has announced his resignation ahead of the formation of a new interim government, did not provide any details about the chemical weapons.
“There are international organizations taking care of this issue,” he said, adding that representatives of those organizations are due to arrive in Libya later in the week.
A Russian-drafted U.N. resolution, to be voted on this week, calls on Libyan authorities to destroy stockpiles of chemical weapons in coordination with international authorities.

Why does neither link mention chemical weapons?
Libya has had a nuclear program since the 80s, some enriched uranium does not equal nuclear missiles.
It's known that Libya has had chemical weapons for some time.

Btw, they should definitely remove them before the rebels get their hands on them. Some rebels are muslim extremists linked to Al-Qaeda.

Remember, he never did actually use them.

If it's true that Libya had Nukes then the big question is whose nukes are they? Because Libya didn't have the technology to make them despite many attempts to get started.

    http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/NP-Libya_moving_forward_with_nuclear_power_plans-0801107.html
The north African country already has a Russian 10 MWt research reactor, which has been operating since 1981 and is under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. France, Argentina, Ukraine and Russia have all signed agreements on the peaceful use of nuclear energy with Libya since its voluntary decision to halt a clandestine uranium enrichment program and fully open itself to IAEA inspections in 2003. Canada has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the country.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/sep/22/libyan-rebels-gaddafis-chemical-weapons?newsfeed=true
But the international watchdog, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, had stated it believed that Libya had kept 9.5 tonnes of mustard gas at a secret location: it is that which appears to have now been captured and secured.

A stink-bomb might be classified as a chemical weapon.

"Hey guys, we found a class-A stink-bomb in Gaddafi's personal armory."

"Let's just call it a 'chemical weapon' for added effect, it will make this NATO backed mission look even more worthwhile."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,231 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

While all the fighting was going on, NATO people were wandering around with truckloads of chemical weapons, burying them as they whistled nonchalantly on their way, so that they could be "found" later on.

So if Jerusalem Post reports there's weapons in Libya (later backed up by papers in the countries warring on Libya) you instantly dismiss it because "Zionism"?
I think I know what you mean, that anything Israelis say can't be trusted, but I'd like for you to find some sources to show Jpost has lied previously or similar.
Until then I choose to think they're reporting real news and not some "zionist agenda".

Do your own research, biko. that's two posts in a row now you snidely switched up zionist with "israeli" or "jew".

I'm at this **** too long to be dragged in by that tactic.

I think that the fact that a murderous tyrant has bee removed, and the people of Libya have a chance at shaping their own destiny in a democratic manner, makes the mission worthwhile in itself tbh.

I think it's more likely the states and france will be doing the destiny shaping myself. it will be another war if the Libyans actually get a say.

There's some serious cognitive dissonance going on, on the one hand everyone banging on about the Libyans shaping their own destiny and at the same time going on about sharia law and al qaeda connections.

yea people want the libyans to be free, but our kinda free. this will be very interesting to watch. It wasn't a week after the Egyptians ousted the old regime when the American and Israeli right started calling it a failure due to Obamas weakness.

    why are people surprised?

an interesting question is who sold him the weapons and/or the means to produce them?

a bet we wont hear the answer to that!!

So the OP says, "Bloody lucky they got Ghadafi before he could use them", I say, silly of him NOT to use them. Why wouldn't he, America would use everything in its arsenal if they were threatened like that, at the moment its restricted to pepper spray use on protesters, just the beginning.

Do you realise the amount of weapons that the USA and other 'super powers' have that are more destructive than anyone could ever believe? That have never been used. And certainly more powerful than whatever Gadaffi had.

But no, Gadaffi was an evil man, dangerous and crazy right?
WHAT THE F**K ARE THE PEOPLE CONTROLLING THE WORLD AND RUNNING THE US DEFENSE FORCE THEN, REASONABLE?????

Maybe you shouldn't believe everything western media tells you,

Just remeber that Lybia now have NOTHING of what they previously had on the below list, (except for interest on mortages which is Sharia Law and is applicable to all countries that use Sharia Law).

16 Things Libya Will Never See Again.(after NATO intervention)
Posted by Saya on October 24, 2011.

    1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.

... ... 2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at zero percent interest by law.

    3. Having a home considered a human right in Libya.

    4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 dinar (U.S.$50,000) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family.

    5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25 percent of Libyans were literate. Today, the figure is 83 percent.

    6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kickstart their farms are all for free.

    7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need, the government funds them to go abroad, for it is not only paid for, but they get a U.S.$2,300/month for accommodation and car allowance.

    8. If a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidizes 50 percent of the price.

    9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0.14 per liter.

    10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amounting to $150 billion are now frozen globally.

    11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession, as if he or she is employed, until employment is found.

    12. A portion of every Libyan oil sale is credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens.

    13. A mother who gives birth to a child receive U.S.$5,000.

    14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $0.15.

    15. 25 percent of Libyans have a university degree.

    16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Manmade River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.

I also support everything that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has threatened against Western powers if they try and lift him from power because it doesn't 'fit in their plans'.

Full UN speech that USA, France and other delegations walked out on as a sign of protest at his claims. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H09nvdPF0KQ

F**K THE UN, IT MEANS NOTHING ANYMORE.

you know well i dont support the idea of this socialism or left wing redistribution of wealth, but I however feel that considering the money earned from oil , theres only so much you could spend on the country before giving it away to the people.

Also id much rather the system under gadaffi of dont ask, dont tell anything and life will be fine , versus what theyll now gain which is american 'ask and your dead' but its all in the name of 'democracy'

Lybia was better off with Gadaffi , Id rather him than america any day

A stink-bomb might be classified as a chemical weapon.
    http://yarchive.net/chem/h2s_safety.html

    1. H2S is toxic. Excessive exposure will paralyze the breathing
muscles which of course can be fatal.

    2. At low levels the characteristic odor announces its presence.

    3. At higher levels (10 ppm give or take a few ppm) the sense of smell
is unable to detect H2S. It as this point that H2S becomes extremely
dangerous and treacherous. There is no warning of excessive exposure.
The victim simply collapses into an unconscious state. Unless
appropriate action is taken death is a frequent result.

    4. It is possible to revive the victim by artificial respiration but
it is also possible to quickly join the victim in a state of
unconsciousness and death. Cases are known where several "rescuers"
without proper breathing apparatus have participated in cost saving
joint funerals for multiple victims. Collection of the bodies is not
difficult because they are usually in one pile near the source of the
    H2S and the first victim.
