Hi guys, I was out running a 10k training nothing too fast but I felt tension in the left calf muscle about a 2k in. I stopped a few times for a minute and then I rested after 5k. I started back going a little quicker it felt tight and after seven minutes I felt a little (not a pop or click) release, like it slipped but then it went very tight.

You ever had this happen to you or similar and did it stay bad for long. Last year I got muscle spasm in my back after a fast mile and it felt much worse but not sure if this is spasm or a tear.

Perhaps you didn't warm up enough.

I didn't warm up at all!! I was running slowly though. Earlier I did some stretches to release the hip abductors and the left one is very tight. The pain in the leg though was in the calf last Tuesday when I ran some intervals after doing some reverse leg lifts on a weights machine. Just remembered that now. Used 50 Kg weight and I have not done weights in a long time on the legs. So frustrated now cause I have a week off and need to up my mileage a bit. Will see how I am tomorrow. It might just calm down over night. If not I'll see about maybe getting a muscle rub before the weekend if possible. I'm training about 5 weeks after a few months off. Taking it easy enough. Never had a muscle go like that. Had to walk about two miles home on it. Was sore.

I get calf pains at times if I run quickly on the road without warming up properly. I don't seem to have the same problem when I run on the grass.
