Yes you can all the new range of Toshiba Tv's come with full certifcation for Saorview And Freeview.

They also have a build in media player so you can plug in a USB pen or harddrive to play movies, jpeg pictures, and mp3 files.

For example the 32 inch Model No 32AV833B one example. And Im sure there are loads of other models available.

Do any of these Saorview certified Toshibas have DVB-T2 tuners for Freeview HD?

There are some in the LG range, like the xxLV355T models.

    I can delete my 1st post then . . .

Also some of the Sony & Samsung models on the Saorview approved list have DVB-T2, maybe others too.

are there any tvs that have both saorview and a freesat?
i presume the freeview tvs are only useful on the east coast for receiving uk freeview signal...

Some Panasonic and Samsung TVs can receive both Freeview HD and Freesat HD.

Freeview HD (and the "HD" is important) is the same spec as Saorview so can receive the signal. It isn't Saorview certified though. As far as I know that doesn't make any difference now but possibly it will in the future.

On a quick look there are a few LCD / LED and Plasma TVs available. They tend to be in the upper end of the pricing / functionality ranges but they do mean that you don't have to get an extra box.

I have a Panasonic P46G20 which is receiving Saorview via an aerial and Freesat from a dish.

thanks for reply, so that panasonic you have is negating the need for a freesat box and a saorview box, which is neat.

i must look in Currys and PC World and see what they have. Maybe Harvey Normans also.

What did you pay for your Panasonic Tv?

    Hi,

I didn't buy mine in either of those shops but I don't think the rules will allow me to say where I bought it.
If you send me a PM I will tell you.

I paid about €800 for it.

Make sure that the the one you buy is designated 'Freesat' as the ones they sell here talk about 'Satellite reception' or something like that. Only the ones marked 'Freesat' or 'Freesat HD' can receive the 7 day EPG. On mine the exact model was TXP46G20B. The 'B' at the end means that it was designated for the British market and was Freesat compliant. It also said Freesat on the spec sheet was was a good hint too.

There is an added bonus in that you can attach a USB disk to it and record to it.

Panasonic have a chequered history in terms of Saorview reception. The models up to the 'G20' range can't tune into the Saorview channels (although once they are tuned in they can receive the signal). RTE NL changed (corrected ?) the Codec and the older Panasonics couldn't retune. This is well documented elsewhere.
The G20 models onwards (tagged as Freeview HD) can tune in Saorview channels.
I have an older model as well (LZD81) which is tuned in to Saorview but if I try to retune it will lose everything.

As I stated earilier all new TOSHIBA branded tvs such as the model I quoted earlier in the thread are available in a 19" and 22" and are both Saorview and freeview approved. They are also LED backlit so cheap to run and have a built in Media player nice range of tvs now...well impressed with them.
