Bit vague there how about including a price range, petrol or diesel, what interests you in a car most? Looks? Performance?

The more information you give the better the chances are of people recommending suitable cars.

What about a 3 MPS it's faster than both the above and alot cheaper too.

Seat Leon FR are nice as well.

If it was me buying I would get the Volvo S40 T5.

    Some car for 5k

    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201036199486798

I don't know where he is getting that 260bhp figure from, it would have to be mapped to make that power.

Harder to list cars that don't have a turbo these days!
Should have bought shares in Garret!

You'll find it hard to get a 6MPS. When I bought mine it was 1 of 3 on carzone and the other 2 sold within a month of me buying mine. They are a particularly rare car in this country.

There is however a 3MPS for sale HERE

It looks to be in superb condition and is a Jap import. Only 2500 miles on the clock and it's at a very good price.

I'm not sure about the UK/Ire version of the 3MPS coming with the frills (cruise control etc) but I'm afraid this one doesn't have any of that.

    EDIT: 2 more 3 MPS's - BLACK RED

And I'll swallow my pride and tell you that I found THIS 6MPS but it's sold.

The point of a turbo is to get more power out of a lower capacity. This is one of the reasons why they became so favourable in Japan where you are taxed on CC no emissions, like the way we used to.

Turbo's don't always mean lower emissions, so getting a pre 08 would leave you out of the market for many nice cars that are still only around 600euro a year to tax.

And if something goes wrong, the amount your paying for tax will probably be small relative to the bill you will receive.

Depending on the budget I'd go for Nissan GT-R or a Nissan Silvia S15.

Or if you're more of a Toyota guy, a 1020bhp Supra

I'm a total JDM fan boy so go figure! :D

Sorry, the missus was floating around when I originally posted and I don't want her seeing this just yet. Price range is 10 - 20k, with closer to 10k being preferred. Petrol. I don't want a boy racer car, rather a regular looking car that has a bit more poke than you'd expect.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. That Opel Insignia looks interesting, didn't know they had a spec like that.

OP I was in a very similar situation to you this month, I wanted something practical with reasonable poke.

Drove a lot of Astra & Corsa OPCs but they are just way to obvious. I could not justify the tax/insurance on a Mazda 3 MPS. I finally settled with a really high interior spec 5dr Golf GTI. Great, economical, comfortable car but they are by no means 'sleeper'.

On the first outing I parked up at my local petrol station to grab a few bits on the way home. Came back out to find three VW GT-T-diddly-pinkeyes surrounding me. Regularly flashed by idiots in clapped out VAG's on the M11. You know the type with "No Poke and a Lotta Smoke" sun strips.

I'm considering putting a 1.4 badge and a towbar on it at this stage.

If they are a Supra specialists it's still bad advertising and should not happen. Won't give them business from people that have half a clue anyhow. Because ... if they do it to one, they're probably doing it to them all.

But theres nothing wrong with towing a RWD car that way if you know what you're doing... disconnect prop-shaft if necessary etc, I don't get what all the fuss is about.

    Lol.

OP, if it was me I'd be looking at a Focus ST. Plenty of tuneable options if you decide down that route, and that 2.5 Volvo unit has nothing to prove.

The Astra OPC is pretty much at the limit, it doesn't take kindly to tuning at all.

As an owner of an N/A Supra, a TT would be a nightmare to live with. Cracking car, but just not suited to Irish roads for everyday use IMO. Especially with all the rain we get.

Insignia Turbo 4x4's are very rare in Ireland, you'd probably end up in the UK for one. That means a Vauxhall grill, bootlid and steering wheel, just don't forget that.

If you want something a bit older, MK1 Focus RS?

No one mentioned RWD as a problem.

Does anyone even know if that black Supra being towed has an engine and box in it? Let alone that its the automatic one mentioned in the list of cars for sale:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Sounds like some awful jumping to conclusions over nothing! Or having a dig at someone over something...

Anyone who has half a clue wouldn't take it for granted that the car towed is the one for sale.

It doesn't matter. It's a bad advertising mistake by even showing people a situation where there could be any doubt for that matter. Hence shows incompetence.

Its clearly a generic 'Supras for sale' page as I mentioned earlier.

The title of the advert is a bit of a giveaway "SUPRA's for SALE + bought by us!"

It lists a black supra and a silver supra, the black one happens to be automatic and there happens to be a photo of a black supra in the gallery.
    1. Its not stated the car in the ad is the car in the gallery picture
    2. Theres no silver Supra
    3. Theres nothing wrong with towing an auto supra anyway if the recovery truck driver knows what he is doing and I very much think he would seeing as its his job. (disconnect propshaft etc). If that is an automatic Supra, then maybe the red one is as well and he had to collect them both in one go.

The assumptions on here are ridiculous, I thought defaming businesses on here was a no no.. And with such flimsy assumed evidence.
And for the record I have no connection to them, I just want to see fairness.

My little Smart has a turbo too. Easily the most fun I've had on 4 wheels since my JCW. RWD, short wheelbase and too much power is hilarious. It's like a teensy drifting golf kart.

The only one that seems to have a serious problem with this is you. Maybe you have a vested interest ?

People are allowed to express their opinion, that has nothing to do with defamation, and if a business makes a mistake like that in their advertising, then that's clearly unprofessional.

Defamation would be, if somebody spread malicious, false stories about them. That's not the case here.
