    Some questions for you!

    1) Where do you buy your film? Do you buy in bulk? Can you get good deals online?

    2) Where do you get your film developed? (in Dublin)

    3) Do you scan your own? Would you recommend it?

    4) Whats your favourite type of film? (I mean the type of film (e.g. fuji velvia) not the format)

Answer all or as many of the above as you like!

    Cheers :)

1] 7dayshop, flea-bay, some camera shops where they've a bargain bin for past or near-dated stock.
    yes, makes delivery cheaper usually.
yes - you sometimes come across lots of bulk film on e-bay [the .de or .fr sites mostly] and if you have a loader and blanks it can work out great value for a few rolls

2] i develop my own but i've heard praise for gunns

    3] yes. and yes.

    4] anything that's cheap. i'm cheap.

Cheers artyeva. It's cool that you develop and scan your own film. Does it work out cheaper in the end doing it that way? If so I could definitely see myself learning how to do it.

cheaper - yes. i mainly do it for the sh*ts and giggles though. i like the process.

there are a gazillion tutorials on the webz on how to do your own developing, it's not hard - just daunting the first time you try it. you only need a few bits and the chemicals to get started. and for chemicals i'd - again - recommend gunns.

Loads of film heads around here. There are quite a few threads if you search a bit.

1 - Mostly online, Mailshots in the UK, MacoDirect in Germany. Sometimes on eBay. eBay film comes with health warnings - you can't guarantee how it's been treated. Aldi has cheap colour C41. (In Germany, DM, Schlecker, Aldi, and Rossmanns all have cheap C41 film, as little as 90c for a fresh roll of 35mm - there's even a flickr group).

By bulk, do you mean 10 or 20 rolls at a time, or 50m? I don't have a loader, so I try and get the slightly discounted 10 of price.

    2 - I do it myself (B&W, C41, E6). Not difficult to do, especially B&W.

3 - Have Nikon scanner. Great scanner. Even with USB 2.0, it's slower than a slow thing on a slow day. Think 3 minutes to scan a single mounted slide. Ten minutes to scan a strip of 6 35mm frames. Great quality. You'll find some threads here about the cheap Aldi scanners - best avoided.

There are other scanner options - please search.

4 - For fun, the cheap Aldi C41. Don't care much about the chemicals either, as they get the job done. Slide - Provia 100f. (Sniff - Kodachrome). B&W, mostly Fuji Neopan 400, but quite like Kodak TMax 100.

    2) Develop my own B&W. Gunns for C41.
    3) Don't scan. Make traditional prints.
    4) Fuji Acros
