Possibly crank angle/camshaft position sensor or an ECU problem

Best bet would be to check the fault codes if you can get a reader.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Check the green relay in the trunk near to the spare wheel
This is the fuel pump relay and often goes off
You can hear the buzzing noise of the fuel pump under the back seat
In case of no buzzing noise replace the relay with new one

To be honest now I work on Mercs day in day out.what year is it.and I think in the past 5 years we only done 2 ecu changes and recoding and if my memory is correct I'd think they were new eclass models.if its the 99 model there is a relay under the bonnet near the wipers.its a multi function relay and I'd start there but need to know the year and il give u all the help you need.

back after a frustrating time, second diagnostics says ecu is shot along with ignition switch mechanic says scrap it.it is spotless car only 120k up.is it worth ?

So an ECU and ignition switch. You could ring around breakers to price them. To save money I wouldn't worry about changing door locks or anything, you'll get used to 2 seperate keys easily.

Before doing this you'll need to do your sums, price of parts and labour against price of scrap (€100 ish?) and buying a new car.

I don't know the price of an ECU for it, but they usually aren't cheap!
Hopefully the age of the car will mean it's in low demand so it mightn't be too expensive if you find a scrappie who'll negotiate.
