    Hi trepasers,
Wouldn't recommend you working on the brakes to be honest, and if I tell you a bodge then the underlying reason for the failure is not professionally identified.
Play it safe and bring it to someone who knows.

    Happy and safe motoring.

The handbrake is worked by cables so it might not be necessary to go near the hydraulics to fix the problem. It's possible that one cable has seized. You will need to disconnect the cables and see if they move freely. However the problem with Fords if I remember correctly is that it's difficult to remove the drum so you have to remove the stub axle by means of four bolts at the rear of the drum. If you can do that it should be easy to check the cable, otherwise leave it to a mechanic.

If you remove the drum the normal way it knackers the wheel-bearing so as
Wheelnut says above, take off the stub-axle by removing the 4 bolts from the backplate.

Depends on which model Focus it is. If it is the new shape then the drum just comes off and leaves the hub assembly behind. The advice above applies to the old shape Focus.
